I’m Bob Gavlak, and thanks for stopping by. I’ve started this blog as an opportunity to share my thoughts, knowledge, and general insight on all things personal finance related.

I’ve found that through more traditional channels, one tends to get more traditional insight. I’m hopeful that I can share some of these same thoughts, but through an avenue that more aligns with my personal tone and approach. If even one person finds something I say helpful on here, this blog will have accomplished everything I would hope.

To share with you a little bit of background on me, here it goes:

  • I’m a married father of three beautiful children. Grace is the oldest, Mitch is in the middle, and Andersen is our baby.
  • I grew up in Brunswick, OH, a small suburb of Cleveland.
  • I attended high school at Holy Name High School in Parma Heights, OH.
  • I then moved on to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. At first I thought I wanted to be an engineer, but after Calc III for Engineers my freshman year, I changed focus to finance.
  • While at Case, I was a three-time Academic All-American wrestler.
  • I graduated in May of 2008 with a degree in Finance, with minors in Entrepreneurship and Economics.
  • While in school, I started my first business, Fresh Fork Market.
  • In April of 2009 I decided I’d rather focus my time on personal finance, so I started at a financial advisory firm in Cleveland – Cedar Brook Financial Partners. I worked with some amazing people and learned a great basis for financial planning.
  • I moved to Strategic Wealth Partners in April of 2012.
  • In October of 2014 I opened the first branch office of Strategic Wealth Partners in Columbus, OH.

I’ve learned so much over the years from so many different people, advisors, partners, and industry leaders. And again, my hope is to share all of that with as many people as I can in a way that I hope can resonate with some.

Thank you again for stopping by – and please feel free to comment, share, or contact me directly with any questions or feedback.

All the best,

Bob
